CONCEPTUAL EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION
'WORKING FROM BED'
The first project of the semester revolved around conceptual, editorial illustration, which we have never looked at previously. We were each assigned an article, with a more specific brief for each. I was assigned a BBC article which was about working from bed, which has risen since the start of the current pandemic. I was tasked to produce a main illustration and a spot illustration. I struggled initially to think conceptually, however after plenty researching I really started to enjoy this way of working. My main illustration looks at the laptop acting as a bed, plugged in and switched on at the wall which ties in with the article stating that people found it difficult to 'switch off' from work. My spot illustration looks at working from bed in an office environment which I thought was a fun concept. I was really pleased with the final outcomes for this project, I learnt a lot in the process, and I discovered elements of illustration I haven't come across before.
